QED is seeking a motivated and experienced Financial Reporting and Business Applications Software Engineer to join our software development team in Marlton, New Jersey.
The Software Engineer will work across the QED development, client implementation, and client support teams to provide financial reports, automated business processes and business intelligence objects in support of QED clients including buy-side institutional investment plans, asset managers, wealth managers, portfolio managers, investment trading professionals, and accounting professionals.
This position is appropriate for a financial applications business analyst who has developed essential skills in financial reporting and business processes development and who will work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support software company and client goals.
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain reports and business applications using specified development environments, programming languages, and tools;
- Work with clients and project teams to develop requirements specifications, functional specifications, and workflow documentation;
- Create high-level and detailed designs based on requirements, and follow through to implementation and unit test;
- Create and execute unit software test cases and interact with product quality assurance to resolve bugs, clarify functionality, and resolve software usability issues;
- Collaborate with the development team to construct integrated solutions;
- Analyze databases, and optimize database queries;
- Perform other related duties as required
Education
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, finance or financial engineering or equivalent combination of education and related experience required;
Experience
- A minimum of two to five years of relevant work experience in Financial Technology is required;
- Investment performance measurement, performance attribution analysis, and investment risk modeling experience is a plus;
Knowledge
- Knowledge of investments, securities, and financial accounting principles is required;
- Familiarity with financial statement and reports processing is required;
- Understanding of performance measurement evaluation and reporting methodologies is a plus;
- Experience with investment accounting platforms or asset management reporting is preferred;
Professional Skills
- Strong knowledge and experience with SQL and relational databases required;
- Experience with reporting/BI toolkits required (i.e., Jasper Reports, Crystal Reports, Delphi, Oracle, IBM BI, etc.);
- Experience with JasperReports is a plus;
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language required;
- Proficiency in Linux/UNIX shell scripting is a plus;
- Broad range of experience with computer software, hardware, operating systems (including Linux/UNIX and Microsoft Windows) required;
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and communications skills are required;
- Ability to adapt to changing climate needs and priorities and to work independently and concurrently on several projects is required;
- Comfortable working on, and contributing to, a dynamic and evolving software platform;
- Excellent critical thinking and multitasking skills and the ability to maintain focus on multiple priorities with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and assignments is required;
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and discuss problems as they arise, research possible solutions as necessary, and resolve problems in a timely and satisfactory manner is required;
- Collaborative and team-based problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to client reporting requirements is essential;
